During the research phase, we collected feedback through surveys and consumer interviews. The key insight was unexpected:
Convenience of filter replacement outweighed filtration performance in purchase decisions.
For modern lifestyle users who demand efficiency and beauty in every detail, spending minutes unscrewing hardware to replace a cartridge became a major barrier to adoption.

Solution — Engineering Elegance Through Constraints

To solve the problem of easy filter replacement within a compact structure, we explored multiple industrial mechanical mechanisms and quickly converged on an internal press-to-release trigger system as the most graceful interaction.

The Engineering Challenge

Our early prototypes revealed significant obstacles:
Exposed spring mechanism caused risk of loss and mechanical instability
Filter volume was insufficient for real-world usage cycles
Excess O-rings and components complicated assembly and increased failure risk
Spring force was difficult to balance—too weak meant sticking, too strong caused misfire and jamming
Through iterative prototyping, stress testing, tolerance refinements, and mechanical optimization, we engineered a final structure that delivers:
Press once — the used cartridge releases. Press again — the new one clicks into place.
A clean, intuitive, and aesthetically satisfying interaction that consumers now celebrate on social media.
