Modern desk setups often include a clock, speaker, desk lamp, charger, and an endless tangle of cables competing for space.
Gridslab recognized the growing need for a modular wireless charging system that organizes essential desk accessories into a single smart ecosystem. Beyond functionality, their goal was to break away from the cold, rigid aesthetics typical of tech products and introduce interaction, modular playfulness, and emotional value for people who spend long hours at their desks.
(02)
Geniotek designed a fully customizable LEGO-inspired wireless charging platform that allows users to snap different functional modules onto a magnetic power grid base. Components such as clocks, speakers, ambient lights, and phone chargers can be rearranged freely to suit individual workflows and personal style.
The design was designed for years, rated and discussed by different blogs and articles, and a few IP owners tried to bring it into market but without success due to hardware complexity. The main challenge was the not the phone wireless charging station, but the LEGO platform that wirelessly charging the clock and the lamp simultaneously, ensuring each corner in the platform are able to charge.

At Geniotek, we turned a concept into a fully functioning prototype with client's limited budget, and it is now availible to be brought into Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform. The modular charger system quickly resonated with desk setup enthusiasts, creators, and remote workers seeking both functionality and aesthetic expression. After launch, the product gained strong attention on social media and tech communities, with users sharing their unique configurations and praising the enjoyable tactile experience.
Key outcomes include:
~ Turning a concept into a fully functioning prototype ready for mass production
~ Through our suggestion, this becomes the only LEGO modular electrical product ~ Significant reduction in desktop clutter and charging cable management issues
~ Higher user satisfaction and engagement, driven by the playful modular experience
~ Differentiation in the competitive wireless charging market through emotional design value
